Job Purpose:

Using a variety of MHE vehicles, a Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Operator’s job is to transport stock within the warehouse to and from its appropriate warehouse position.

Job Objectives:

Receiving Stock

• Offload stock from trucks into stock receiving bay
• Move stock from receiving bay to staging area

Put Away

• As directed by the warehouse scanner, move the inventory from the receiving bay into the appropriate PND area (aisle position).
• As directed by the scanner, retrieve merchandise from PND and transport it to the appropriate place.
• Determine the location of the scanner, offload the boxes there, and verify the number of boxes offloaded into the scanner.

Collecting stock for orders or replenishment

• Get a notification on the scanner to gather inventory.
• By scanning the bin location and inputting the number of boxes, you can retrieve stock from the appropriate area.
• Close the request on the system by taking stock in the appropriate PND section and scanning the location.
• Transfer inventory from the PND location to the staging area.

Truck Maintenance

• Ensure that vehicles, machinery and equipment is well maintained and fit for purpose

Health and Safety

• Responsible for ensuring that health and safety policies are adhered to

Housekeeping

• Apply basic housekeeping principles to ensure the workstation is tidy

Qualifications and Experience:

• NQF 4 – Matric or equivalent
• 1-2 years’ experience as a Reach Truck/ Forklift/ Power Pallet Truck/ Turret Truck Driver (Essential)
• 3-4 years’ experience as a Reach Truck/ Forklift/ Power Pallet Truck/ Turret Truck Driver (Desirable)
