Job Description
Within the baking business unit, RCL Foods is hiring a motivated, highly motivated Feeder Driver who is people-oriented and driven. The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out duties related to the transproting, loading, and unloading of bread, crates, and confections between the bakery and the EMPANGENI depot. This position will be located in Durban and will report to the Fleet Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Education: 12th grade;
valid Code 1 4 driver’s license;
valid PDP;
skills:
reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in English;
good numeracy;
drawbar trailer towing ability
Experience
Minimum three years of experience behind the wheel with a Code 14 license
Duties & Responsibilities
Dress and Vehicle Duties
Sustain a spotless car to guarantee optimal hygiene standards at all times;
make sure the driving compartment satisfies the requirements for a work station under the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
inspect his car in accordance with the company’s checklist, noting any issues;
sign the checklist acknowledging the state of the vehicle;
report any serious issues to the Transport Supervisor/Fleet Controller, and the vehicle will be sent straight to the workshop;
obey traffic laws, protecting the safety of himself, his passengers, and other vehicles on the road;
and report any theft, fuel, equipment, or damage to the vehicle as soon as possible.
Stock and Loading
Driver to help with offloading and loading; verify that the vehicle has been loaded safely to ensure that road safety is not jeopardized and the product is not damaged while traveling.
Van Assistants
Verify that the van assistant is at work; if not, let the route controller know. Report any concerns regarding the van assistant’s performance to the supervisor.
Deliveries
Pick up returns and crates from the depot; move goods, people, supplies, and machinery back and forth between the bakery and the depot; carry out crate recovery duties as required.
Transactional Duties
Accurately complete and/or handle transactional documentation, such as but not limited to invoices, delivery notes, loading schedules, crate control documents, vehicle log sheets, petrol slips, vehicle check lists, and other related forms; take the necessary precautions to avoid risk to company property.
General
When not performing depot chores, assist with other driving responsibilities.
