PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

A delivery driver assistant’s job is to help deliver goods to clients while making sure that deliveries are made on time and accurately. They help fill out invoice correction forms, present and get signatures on Proof of Delivery paperwork, confirm payments as necessary, and help load and unload goods. Their function supports appropriate documentation and record-keeping, customer satisfaction, and effective delivery operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • helping the driver deliver and transport goods to specified client locations in a safe manner while maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
  • Presentation and signing of the POD: presenting clients with the Proof of Delivery (POD) document,
  • getting their signatures as verification of receipt,
  • and precisely capturing and documenting the delivery details.
  • assisting with the completion of invoice rectification forms as needed,
  • guaranteeing the precise and prompt settlement of any delivery-related invoice errors or inconsistencies.
  • helping to confirm that client payments—such as cash or checks—are made in accordance with defined protocols,
  • guaranteeing correctness and appropriate documentation.
  • assisting with the loading and unloading of goods into and out of the delivery vehicle while according to safety and handling procedures to avoid loss or damage.
  • Having polite and professional interactions with clients,
  • answering their questions, fixing little problems,
  • and offering assistance when required
  • To maximize productivity and on-time delivery,
  • help the driver navigate delivery routes using maps or GPS devices and offer guidance or recommendations as needed.
  • helping to keep correct inventory records,
  • which include recording damaged or returned goods and alerting the driver or supervisor to any stock inconsistencies.
  • Keep the cab tidy. Product safety: throughout business hours, make sure that inventory is protected throughout deliveries and overnight trips.
  • supporting the upkeep of precise and well-organized delivery records,
  • including PODs, invoices, payment receipts,
  • and other necessary documents for audits and record-keeping.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • a Matric certificate from grade 12 or an equivalent certification.
  • a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in a logistical and warehouse setting, preferably in the FMCG retail sector.
