Purpose of Job

To move securely from the exchange yard to loading and unloading locations at different business units, a shunter plans trains.s

Key Accountabilities

• In accordance with the principles of safe rail movement,
• apply basic health and safety knowledge,
• ensure plant-specific rules and procedures,
• know the layout of the site, apply shunting procedures,
• display hand signals, use rail way vehicles and rail way lines,
• operate hand points, assist with air brake and vacuum tests,
• inspect loads, read special notices,
• operate handbrakes,
• test two-way radio communication (two-way radio testing), and couple and uncouple vehicles.
• Use profile codes to identify rolling stock types; use data sheets, color coding,
• or symbolic signs to identify commodities types;
• Create a train profile and carry out moves within the allotted operating period and according to the plan.

High school, a diploma, or something comparable

Working Experience
