The South African Army invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for their Military Skills Development System (MSDS) intake for 2025. The closing date for applications is the 15th March 2024
BACKGROUND:
Through its Military Skills Development System (MSDS), the South African Army is providing young citizens with a two-year contract opportunity to serve in uniform. During the first year of the contract, recruits will receive military training as well as additional functional training; in the second year, they will be deployed to areas where they will be required to apply their knowledge and develop their skills.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- 18 to 22 years old (grade 12).
- 18 to 26 (3 years tertiary qualification or N6) when reporting.
- Admitted Paint Score (APS) 17 and above excluding Life Orientation (LO).
- Appropriate medical fitness requirements for the appointment.
- No visible tattoos (face, neck, lower arm, or legs).
- RSA citizen (no dual citizenship).
Other Requirements:
- Minimum height for females is 148 cm, minimum weight for males is 52 kg, and minimum height for females is 155 cm (female BMI ranges: 18.5 to 30; male BMI ranges: 19 to 30).
- Applicants will undergo drug testing, psychometric and medical evaluation, criminal record verification, pre-screening, and qualification verification.

- Defence Intelligence (Gr 12 with Bachelor’s pass, with English L4, Mathematics and Physical Science L4, Geography and History L4),

- Signalers, Human Resources, Logistics, Fire & Rescue (Mathematics and Physical Science L5), Hospitality, Music, Technical Service (Mathematics and Physical Science L3),
