KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creating an annual operating plan for the business unit in accordance with the overall business strategy will be the responsibility of this function.
- Create the board and subcommittee charters.
- Monitor the Corporate Governance of PIKITUP.
- Create the Governance Framework to organize, lead, and oversee PIKITUP’s governance initiatives and guarantee that governance procedures are uniform and compliant with relevant laws and rules.
- Give corporate governance advice and assistance to the PIKITUP Board, its committee(s), and the Executive Management.
- Decide on the Board’s mandate, including the functions it will do and the authority it will have.
- Create a yearly agenda for the Board and related subcommittee meetings, then distribute it to the members.
- To always guarantee compliance and update the Board on the status of compliance, oversee the application of Board resolutions and legal compliance requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- LLB degree is a minimum qualification (NQF 7).
- It is preferred to get admitted as an advocate or attorney.
- Having a postgraduate degree would be beneficial.
- A benefit would be membership in the Institute for Chartered Secretaries of South Africa, which is currently known as the Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
- eight years of relevant experience, at least five of which were spent in senior managerial or strategic roles within a public sector or organization, in a legal management setting.
- Proficiency in corporate governance, risk mitigation, environmental and waste management, adherence to legal requirements, and in-depth comprehension of local government law
