Remuneration and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive government salary package of R201,093.00 per annum, in line with public service regulations. This package is inclusive of applicable benefits, which may include leave benefits, pension fund contributions, and medical aid options as prescribed by the Public Service Act.


About the Role

The Data Capturer plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and real‑time availability of healthcare data used for decision‑making, reporting, planning, and monitoring healthcare services. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure in a busy clinical environment.

Working within the Health Information Systems (HIS) unit, the incumbent will support clinical teams, management, and departmental reporting by maintaining reliable electronic records and assisting with administrative and telephonic duties.


Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • A Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or an equivalent qualification
  • Proven computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience in data capturing, preferably in a healthcare or government environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and telephone etiquette skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Good analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving skills

Added Advantages

  • A Diploma or additional relevant qualification will be an advantage
  • Prior exposure to DHIS, SAP‑HIS, or TIER.Net systems
  • Experience in office administration or hospital information systems

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

Data Capturing and Management

  • Perform real‑time data capturing to ensure accuracy and completeness of records
  • Capture and update data on DHIS, SAP‑HIS, and TIER.Net systems
  • Conduct data reconciliation, verification, and validation
  • Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, and errors, and provide corrective input

Administrative and Office Support

  • Perform general office administration duties
  • Maintain organized electronic and manual filing systems
  • Assist with generating reports and supporting data analysis activities

Communication and Stakeholder Support

  • Answer and manage incoming telephone calls professionally
  • Provide accurate information and direct queries to relevant stakeholders
  • Liaise with clinical staff, supervisors, and management to resolve data‑related issues
