🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 10 / AET Level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification
  • ✅ Must be able to read and write clearly
  • 1 year experience as a porter in a hospital will be an added advantage
  • ✅ Good communication skills
  • ✅ Strong interpersonal skills
  • ✅ Understanding of Batho Pele Principles (people-first service delivery)
  • ✅ Ability to work effectively in a team
  • ✅ Must be able to work under pressure
  • ✅ Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will be responsible for providing essential support services within the hospital environment. Duties include:

  • 🔹 Assisting with loading and offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles
  • 🔹 Escorting patients from reception or casualty to wards and service points
  • 🔹 Transporting patients using wheelchairs and stretchers
  • 🔹 Supporting nursing staff with patient transfers between wards
  • 🔹 Delivering medical documents to various departments
  • 🔹 Handling sensitive duties such as:
    • Collection of deceased patients (corpses) from wards
    • Transporting to the mortuary
    • Placing bodies in designated storage areas
  • 🔹 Cleaning and maintaining porter equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers)
  • 🔹 Reporting damaged equipment and ensuring proper handling of hospital resources
