🎓 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- ✅ Grade 10 / AET Level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification
- ✅ Must be able to read and write clearly
- ✅ 1 year experience as a porter in a hospital will be an added advantage
- ✅ Good communication skills
- ✅ Strong interpersonal skills
- ✅ Understanding of Batho Pele Principles (people-first service delivery)
- ✅ Ability to work effectively in a team
- ✅ Must be able to work under pressure
- ✅ Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
🛠️ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing essential support services within the hospital environment. Duties include:
- 🔹 Assisting with loading and offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles
- 🔹 Escorting patients from reception or casualty to wards and service points
- 🔹 Transporting patients using wheelchairs and stretchers
- 🔹 Supporting nursing staff with patient transfers between wards
- 🔹 Delivering medical documents to various departments
- 🔹 Handling sensitive duties such as:
- Collection of deceased patients (corpses) from wards
- Transporting to the mortuary
- Placing bodies in designated storage areas
- 🔹 Cleaning and maintaining porter equipment (wheelchairs and stretchers)
- 🔹 Reporting damaged equipment and ensuring proper handling of hospital resources
