This internship supports the Driver Programmes function, which plays a critical role in onboarding, training, and enabling drivers who deliver on Takealot’s promise of fast, reliable service.


Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the Driver Programmes Administrator Internship is to provide comprehensive administrative, coordination, and operational support to the Driver Programmes team. The intern will assist with the full driver lifecycle, from vetting and training through onboarding and activation on the platform.

This role is essential in ensuring drivers are supported, processes run smoothly, and stakeholders have accurate, timely information to enable operational success.


Minimum Requirements

Qualifications & Education

Applicants must have:

  • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate
  • Completed N6 qualification in:
    • Business Administration or
    • Project Management

Key Responsibilities

General Administration

  • Process invoices and maintain accurate financial records
  • Draft basic legal documents, including Non‑Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)
  • Establish and maintain structured filing and document management systems
  • Manage email correspondence with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Public Policy and Driver Programmes teams

Driver Lifecycle Management

  • Track drivers throughout the entire programme lifecycle
  • Coordinate with drivers and service providers during vetting processes
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with drivers
  • Ensure all documentation and requirements are completed timeously

Training and Licensing Coordination

  • Support learners with logistics for training enrolment
  • Liaise directly with driving schools to monitor learner progress
  • Track training milestones and proactively address delays
  • Coordinate training schedules across multiple Takealot hubs

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with Recruitment and Onboarding teams
  • Facilitate agreements between drivers and bike suppliers
  • Act as a liaison between learners and internal departments
  • Provide regular updates on driver progress to key stakeholders

Operational Support

  • Assist drivers with bike acquisition requirements and processes
  • Support drivers through final onboarding until they go live on the platform
  • Maintain accurate records of driver statuses and progression

Process Improvement and Reporting

  • Monitor driver training models and timelines
  • Identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including:
    • Recruitment reach
    • Conversion rates
    • Onboarding success by region
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve driver experience and operational outcomes

Reporting Structure

  • Direct Report To: Driver Programmes Coordinator
