1. Overview & Purpose

You’ll be responsible for:
- Engaging and assisting customers
- Promoting and upselling products
- Ensuring stock and merchandising standards

- Collaborating with your team to meet store performance targets
These roles offer promotional paths within each brand and the wider retail group.
2. Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet guests warmly, listen to their needs, and offer relevant product recommendations using proven sales techniques.
- Meet and exceed individual sales targets consistently through upselling, cross‑selling, and identifying opportunities—be it footwear, outdoor gear, clothing, or cellular products.
- Handle customer questions, complaints, and feedback professionally, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Establish ongoing relationships, encouraging brand loyalty and repeat business.
Product Knowledge & Display
- Stay informed about product features, trends, and brand campaigns—whether functional outdoor gear (Cape Union Mart), youth fashion (Factorie), mobile products (Mr Price Cellular), or general merchandise (PEP).
- Maintain high standards of visual merchandising: replenish shelves, create attractive displays, and keep fitting rooms tidy.
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process sales accurately using POS systems; manage cash, credit/debit, vouchers, and loyalty programs without errors.
- Uphold policies for cash accountability and loss prevention with utmost honesty.
Stock & Inventory Management
- Receive, unpack, label, and store deliveries; replenish stock efficiently.
- Monitor levels, conduct regular stock counts, and action stock‑loss prevention.
- Assist with stockroom cleanliness and organisation.
Loss Prevention & Compliance
- Adhere to loss control standards—report breakages, shrinkage, theft, or cash discrepancies promptly.
- For Mr Price Cellular Assistant Managers: coordinate with managers to conduct store compliance audits encompassing admin, POS, safety, and security procedures.
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet store goals and support team success.
- For assistant managers: mentor, coach, and guide team members; assist with recruitment and performance management.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and brand initiatives.
3. Role-Specific Notes
Cape Union Mart Sales Assistant (X10)
- Focus on outdoor gear and adventure clothing products.
- Entry-level positions requiring 6 months to 1-year retail experience; Matric required.
- Key behavioural traits: honesty, ownership, adaptability, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Factorie Specialist & Sales Assistant (X6 total: 2 Specialists + 4 Sales Assistants)
- Specialists take a leadership role—demonstrate deep product knowledge, mentor juniors, and support brand campaigns.
- Sales Assistants deliver exceptional service to the youth-fashion customer base, maintain merchandising standards, and fuel store energy consistent with brand identity.
- Prior seasonal or fashion retail experience preferred; dress/style awareness essential.
Mr Price Cellular Assistant Store Manager (X10)
- Assist the Store Manager in a telecom retail environment.
- Responsibilities include deeper involvement in stock control, sales KPI analysis, compliance, and proactive team leadership.
- Requires 3+ years retail experience and supervisory exposure; Matric essential.
PEP Part-Time Sales Assistant (X10)
- Part-time roles (up to 27 hours/week); work schedule on an “as-needed” basis.
- Ideal for mature, service-focused individuals within a 15 km radius of Viljoenskroon.
- Core duties: customer support, cashiering, stock handling, loss prevention, and creating a positive store atmosphere.
