Purpose of the Role
The Permanent Part-Timer is responsible for assisting store management with the smooth daily operation of the store. This includes providing outstanding customer service, supporting sales performance, maintaining merchandising standards, and ensuring that the store environment reflects the high-quality standards of the Adidas brand.
The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a passion for retail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role requires flexibility, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility in representing the Adidas brand values.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Experience and Sales Support
- Deliver an exceptional shopping experience by greeting, engaging, and assisting customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Understand customer needs and provide tailored product recommendations, styling advice, and solutions to enhance satisfaction.
- Demonstrate in-depth product knowledge, including key features, technologies, and promotions.
- Efficiently and accurately process all point-of-sale (POS) transactions including cash, credit, EFT, and returns.
- Drive sales by applying upselling and cross-selling techniques to maximize revenue and meet individual and store targets.
- Promote the Adidas loyalty programme and ensure customer retention through superior service delivery.
2. Store Operations and Stock Management
- Support the flow of merchandise between the stockroom and sales floor to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Accurately tag, label, and ticket products according to company standards.
- Conduct regular stock checks, report discrepancies, and assist with inventory accuracy.
- Maintain proper handling and storage of stock to prevent damage or loss.
- Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing new inventory shipments.
3. Merchandising and Visual Presentation
- Implement visual merchandising directives as instructed by store management.
- Support the setup of displays and promotions to highlight key collections or product launches.
- Ensure shelves, racks, and promotional areas are consistently replenished, clean, and visually appealing.
- Uphold Adidas brand guidelines to ensure store presentation aligns with global retail standards.
4. Store Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment at all times.
- Adhere to health, safety, and security policies to safeguard customers, staff, and company property.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly to management.
- Participate in opening and closing procedures, ensuring all store operations are completed accurately and efficiently.
5. Team Collaboration and Communication
- Work collaboratively with team members and support management in achieving store goals.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and performance discussions.
- Share product knowledge, feedback, and improvement ideas with peers to enhance service delivery and team performance.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (NQF Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
Experience:
- 0–1 year experience in a retail, customer service, or fashion sales environment.
- Prior experience working with POS systems and cash handling is advantageous but not essential.
Technical Skills:
- Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office, POS systems).
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures and retail operations.
