Job Purpose Summary

Jet Stores, part of The Foschini Group (TFG) – one of Africa’s leading retail powerhouses – is seeking energetic, customer-focused, and fashion-forward Sales Associates to join its retail teams across South Africa.

As a Sales Associate, you will represent the Jet brand with pride, ensuring every customer enjoys a welcoming, memorable, and value-driven shopping experience. You will play a central role in driving sales, maintaining store standards, and contributing to Jet’s mission of making quality, affordable fashion accessible to every South African family.

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Qualification: Grade 12 / Matric certificate (NQF Level 4) – essential.
  • Experience:
    • Previous retail or customer service experience will be advantageous but is not mandatory.
    • Training will be provided for candidates with the right attitude and potential.
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Passion for fashion, customer service, and retail sales.
    • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and remain calm in a busy store environment.
    • Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to achieving results.
    • High attention to detail, organization, and presentation.
    • Willingness to work flexible retail hours, including weekends, public holidays, and peak trading periods.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

1. Customer Experience and Service Excellence

  • Deliver exceptional, friendly, and personalized service to every customer entering the store.
  • Identify customer needs by actively listening and offering suitable product recommendations.
  • Build long-term customer relationships that encourage brand loyalty and repeat visits.
  • Handle customer queries, exchanges, and returns professionally in line with company policies.
  • Promote current sales, promotions, and loyalty programs to maximize customer value.

2. Sales and Performance Delivery

  • Drive personal and store sales by achieving and exceeding daily and monthly sales targets.
  • Support the Store Manager in monitoring store performance metrics and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance the customer’s shopping experience and increase basket value.
  • Contribute ideas for boosting sales and improving customer engagement.

3. Product Knowledge and Brand Representation

  • Stay informed about current fashion, homeware, and lifestyle trends relevant to the Jet brand.
  • Display in-depth knowledge of store merchandise, pricing, promotions, and new arrivals.
  • Represent the Jet brand with enthusiasm, professionalism, and integrity at all times.
  • Maintain a positive image that reflects TFG’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

4. Merchandising and Store Readiness

  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and merchandising stock according to the store layout and visual guidelines.
  • Replenish shelves and displays to ensure stock availability throughout trading hours.
  • Maintain visually appealing product displays aligned with Jet’s merchandising standards.
  • Support the implementation of visual merchandising campaigns and seasonal promotions.
  • Ensure fitting rooms, counters, and display areas remain clean, organized, and customer-ready.

5. Operational Support and Compliance

  • Adhere to all company policies, cash-handling procedures, and operational standards.
  • Assist in inventory counts, stock control, and shrinkage management.
  • Follow safety and loss prevention protocols to protect customers, staff, and store assets.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in training or team briefings as required.

  • Sales Associates will work closely with store management, cashiers, and other team members in a supportive, collaborative environment.
