The Office of the Executive Mayor plays a critical coordination and oversight role in municipal governance, ensuring alignment between political leadership, council resolutions, and executive implementation.

The Leader of Executive Business (LOEB) branch supports the Executive Mayor, Mayoral Committee, Council, and strategic committees by managing information flow, tracking resolutions, and ensuring accurate, timeous administrative reporting.


Purpose of the Position

The Data Capturer is responsible for capturing, updating, and maintaining accurate information received from the City’s political and governance structures, including Clusters, the Mayoral Committee, Section 79 Committees, the Programming Committee, and Council.

This role is critical in ensuring data integrity, compliance with internal systems, and effective follow-up on executive issues requiring LOEB intervention.


Key Responsibilities and Performance Areas

1. Data Capturing and System Administration

  • Capture and update information on all official City of Johannesburg systems in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures

  • Ensure accurate, complete, and timeous recording of data received from governance and executive structures

  • Maintain data integrity and confidentiality at all times

2. Executive and Committee Support

  • Capture matters arising from:

    • Mayoral Committee (MMC) meetings

    • Council resolutions

    • Section 79 Committee deliberations

    • Programming Committee decisions

    • Cluster reports and submissions

  • Support the tracking of executive and council-related matters requiring LOEB attention

3. Monitoring and Follow-Up

  • Capture issues identified during MMC Regional Tours and follow up on outstanding matters

  • Ensure that escalated items are properly recorded and monitored until resolution

  • Provide administrative support to ensure compliance with executive reporting requirements

4. Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Adhere strictly to minimum data capturing requirements as set by management

  • Ensure that deadlines are met and information is captured within agreed turnaround times

  • Support internal reporting, audits, and performance monitoring processes


Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

Educational Requirements

  • Matric Certificate / Grade 12 (compulsory)

Experience

  • 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in:

    • Administration

    • Data capturing

    • Office support or public-sector administration (advantageous)

Technical Skills

  • Intermediate computer literacy, including:

    • MS Word

    • MS Excel

    • MS Outlook

    • Other Office applications and data systems

Communication Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally with internal stakeholders
