Job Purpose

The purpose of this Driver role is to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate delivery of automotive parts to customers across designated routes. The driver will follow all loading, delivery, POD, and return procedures while maintaining the vehicle and reporting any issues immediately.

This position requires discipline, reliability, and an understanding of delivery operations within a high‑demand automotive environment. Accuracy, honesty, and excellent communication skills are essential.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 3 years delivery experience (essential)
• Valid driver’s license with PDP (Professional Driving Permit) – compulsory
• Strong time management abilities

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Below are the key performance indicators and responsibilities associated with the Driver role. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

1. Vehicle Inspection and Compliance

• Conduct daily pre‑departure and return vehicle inspections.
• Complete vehicle inspection checklists and submit them to the Dispatch Supervisor every Monday for sign‑off.
• Report any mechanical or safety issues immediately before the vehicle leaves the premises.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean, roadworthy, and maintained according to company standards.

This ensures full compliance with Motus operational procedures and road safety requirements.

2. Parcel Checking, Loading, and Dispatch Procedures

• Cross‑check parcels with the Dispatch Supervisor before loading.
• Follow the New Dispatch Loading Procedure at all times.
• Ensure parcels match the route schedule and trip sheet allocations.
• Load goods securely and responsibly to prevent damage during transport.

Accurate checking and loading prevent delivery errors and protect stock integrity.

3. Customer Deliveries

• Deliver parcels to customers on the allocated route, following the designated schedule.
• Adhere to all customer procedures, especially related to:
  • POD (Proof of Delivery)
  • Delivery signatures
  • Documentation returns
• Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and professional service.
• Maintain clear and respectful communication with customers at all delivery points.

Deliveries must be completed with accuracy, accountability, and a customer‑first mindset.

4. Documentation, PODs & Trip Sheets

• Ensure all documents and collection slips listed on the trip sheet are delivered and returned.
• Sign the trip sheet with the POD Clerk daily.
• Ensure all documentation assigned to your name is returned in full the following day.
• Take full responsibility for any outstanding trip sheets.
• Understand that missing PODs may result in liability for related claims.

Accurate documentation is critical for audit trails, customer satisfaction, and loss prevention.

5. Stock Control & Compliance Procedures

• No unauthorized stock transfers between customer shops.
• Follow all RFC (Return for Credit) procedures.
• Report discrepancies, route issues, or customer irregularities to the Dispatch Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards at all times.

Following procedures ensures accurate inventory reconciliation and prevents financial loss.

6. Reporting and Communication

• Report any vehicle issues, delivery challenges, or POD discrepancies immediately.
• Communicate respectfully with colleagues, supervisors, and customers.
• Assist the dispatch team with queries when required.
