🔹 Position Overview
The Assistant Stores Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth management of materials, equipment, and stock within the City of Ekurhuleni. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and controlling stock items within the stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard.
This position contributes directly to the effective functioning of municipal operations by ensuring that materials and equipment are available when required and handled according to governance and legislative standards.
Working within the Finance Department, the Assistant Stores Operator ensures proper stock control processes are followed to prevent losses, wastage, and financial risk.
🔹 Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) or relevant equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Computer literacy
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a stores or warehouse environment

🔹 Core Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Receiving and Dispatching Stock
- Receive materials, equipment, and other stock items delivered to the warehouse or storage yard.
- Inspect goods to ensure quality and accuracy of deliveries.
- Prepare and issue stock items before and after dispatch across various departments within the City of Ekurhuleni.
2. Storage and Stock Control
- Properly store materials and equipment to ensure safety and easy accessibility.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels and movements.
- Assist in conducting stock counts and reconciliations.
3. Compliance and Governance
- Ensure all work adheres to governance and legislative requirements.
- Follow approved standards, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prevent and reduce wastage of financial resources.
- Escalate risks or irregularities in stock control processes.
4. Customer Service and Ethical Conduct
- Build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Deliver exceptional customer service when issuing stock to departments.
- Promote ethical conduct and integrity in daily operations.
- Contribute to a productive and professional work environment.
