Requirements for the Role

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
  • Experience: 0–6 months, suitable for entry-level candidates
  • Knowledge:
    • Unemployment Insurance Act
    • Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act
    • Public Service Regulations and Public Service Act
    • Batho Pele Principles
    • Departmental policies and procedures
    • Customer care principles

Key Responsibilities

As a UI Claims Officer, your role will include the following duties:

  • Receive and assess all unemployment insurance (UI) claims on the relevant systems according to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Register all employers and verify the declaration of employees in line with legislative requirements.
  • Execute the payment of approved claims within set timeframes.
  • Attend to enquiries regarding processed claims or any other matter relating to claims processing.
  • Perform administrative tasks within the section to ensure smooth workflow and record keeping.
