Main Purpose of the Job
The primary purpose of the Handyman role is to ensure that all building systems, infrastructure, plant machinery, and general hospital facilities remain fully functional, safe, and maintained to original standards. The position supports uninterrupted healthcare operations by performing technical tasks, preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and contractor coordination in the most cost‑effective and safety‑compliant way.

As a Handyman at Mediclinic Sandton, your duties will include:
1. Perform Technical Repair and Maintenance Tasks
- Carry out general building repairs, including carpentry, painting, plumbing assistance, tiling, and basic electrical work within your skill range.
- Conduct routine maintenance inspections to identify wear, defects, or emerging technical issues.
- Perform minor fixes promptly to prevent major system failures.
- Restore facilities, plant rooms, and infrastructure to original working condition.

2. Administration & Technical Record‑Keeping
- Complete job cards, maintenance logs, and service reports.
- Keep accurate records of completed tasks, outstanding repairs, and scheduled maintenance.
- Update technical filing systems for compliance and audits.
- Assist the Technical Department with inventory tracking and reordering of materials.
3. Identify & Mitigate Technical Risks
- Conduct risk assessments for technical repairs and building maintenance tasks.
- Identify safety hazards such as leaks, electrical risks, structural issues, or faulty equipment.
- Report risks immediately and recommend corrective actions.
- Support implementation of safety improvement plans.
4. Coordinate On‑Site Contractors
- Supervise contractors performing maintenance, servicing, renovations, or installations.
- Ensure contractors comply with Mediclinic standards, safety protocols, and SLA requirements.
- Verify the quality of completed work before contractor sign‑out.
- Communicate effectively with external vendors to ensure smooth workflow.
5. Maintain Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Provide friendly, professional service to hospital staff, patients, and management.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding maintenance schedules or disruptions.
- Uphold high levels of integrity, service excellence, and accountability at all times.

- Grade 10 or equivalent technical vocational qualification
