This opportunity is designed to help young South Africans build practical experience, gain an NQF Level 4 Qualification in Gaming Operations, and prepare for future employment in the vibrant gaming and entertainment sector.


About the Learnership Programme

Sun Sibaya is fully committed to South Africa’s Skills Development agenda. Through the National Certificate in Gaming Operations Learnership, the casino provides unemployed youth with:

  • Fully accredited qualification (NQF Level 4)
  • Practical workplace exposure in a real casino environment
  • Hands‑on experience in Gaming Operations & Casino Cashiering
  • 12 months of structured learning, coaching & skills development
  • Increased employability after successful completion

Important:
This is a smoking and non‑smoking environment, and learners must be comfortable working in both.


Programme Background & Objectives

  • Build talent pipelines for Gaming Operations roles such as Casino Cashiers, Slot Floor Attendants, and Customer Service Hosts

This programme equips learners with core competencies required for working in modern casino environments — blending customer service, compliance, transactional accuracy, and gaming regulations.


Key Responsibilities & Workplace Duties

As a Gaming Operations Learner (Cashier), you will be trained and required to:


1. Floor & Machine Readiness

  • Conduct equipment checks before shift start
  • Ensure all slot machine stations are neat, clean, and operational
  • Report faults or defects immediately to the Supervisor

2. Customer Interaction & Guest Experience

Sun International places strong emphasis on hospitality — you will learn to:

  • Greet guests with warm, friendly professionalism
  • Provide excellent service with positive body language
  • Acknowledge guests upon arrival and departure
  • Maintain casino service standards at all times

3. Slot Machine Clearing & Cash Handling

  • Clear slot machines during counting days
  • Support daily count and cash recording processes
  • Ensure accurate and responsible handling of sensitive cash transactions

4. Data Capture & Documentation

  • Capture daily operational data into required systems
  • File documents accurately and securely
  • Follow company reporting protocols

5. Compliance & Risk Reporting

  • Meet the requirements of the KZN Gaming Board for licensing
  • Report suspicious transactions immediately
  • Adhere to gaming laws, internal controls & operational procedures

Minimum Requirements (Must-Have)

Applicants must meet the following:

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 OR Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
  • English passed

Legal Requirements

  • Valid South African ID
  • Must meet criteria for a Gaming License (KZN Gaming Board)

Availability & Physical Fitness

  • Willing and able to work shifts, weekends & public holidays
  • Comfortable working in a smoking and non‑smoking environment
  • Physically capable of:
    • Standing for long periods
    • Moving machines if needed
    • Handling tools related to the job

Employment Equity & Licensing Note

  • Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups per the Employment Equity Act (No. 55 of 1998).
  • Appointment is subject to approval by the KwaZulu‑Natal Gambling Board.
  • There is no guarantee of permanent employment — this is a learnership.
  • Final appointment after the programme depends on suitable vacancies and board authorization.
