As Valterra continues to strengthen its integrated mining‑to‑market value chain, the company now seeks a highly skilled and detail‑driven Data Capture Clerk to join the Protection Services Division in Rustenburg.


Purpose of the Role

The Data Capture Clerk ensures accurate administration, updating, validation, and maintenance of the Valterra Platinum Crime Database and related decentralised systems. This position is critical in supporting Protection Services by ensuring data integrity, supporting investigations, maintaining system documentation, and enabling effective crime prevention insights.

Key Responsibilities

1. Crime Database Administration

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive capturing of crime‑related information.
  • Respond swiftly to system flags, alerts, requests, and queries.
  • Conduct data integrity checks to ensure system accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain consistent data quality through verification of source documentation.

2. Updating & Maintaining System Reports

  • Regularly update system outputs and extract reports from crime‑related systems.
  • Analyse system reports to identify data gaps or irregularities.
  • Support management with crime trend dashboards and consolidated reporting.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and ad‑hoc reports as required.

3. Training Material & User Support

  • Update training material for Crime Database and related systems.
  • Incorporate system changes, enhancements, or protocol updates.
  • Provide training, coaching, and user support to ensure competent system usage.
  • Assist new Protection Services personnel with onboarding training.

4. Administration & Filing System Management

  • Maintain efficient digital and physical filing systems.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline office administration and filing structures.
  • Archive documents according to Protection Services protocols.
  • Support Protection Services supervisors with administrative tasks.

5. General Protection Services Administrative Support

  • Assist with system audits, internal security investigations, and compliance checks.
  • Provide verification support by cross‑checking security incident data.
  • Support Protection Services Managers with documentation and correspondence.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive company, personnel, and crime‑related data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) — Essential
  • Clear criminal record (Mandatory)
  • Ability to pass a polygraph test

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a security‑related administrative role
  • Experience working with security reports, crime systems, or protection services (advantageous)

Technical Competencies

  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work with databases and electronic administrative platforms
  • High typing accuracy and data verification skills
  • Ability to analyse data and summarise findings effectively
