The Department of Labour invites qualified and enthusiastic individuals to apply for the position of Client Service Officer under the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) program. A total of 128 posts are available across multiple labour centres and satellite offices. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Richards Bay Labour Centre (2 posts) – HR4/4/3/01
  • Eshowe Satellite Office (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/02
  • Empangeni Satellite Office (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/03
  • Ixopo Labour Centre (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/04
  • Bergville Satellite Office (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/05
  • Umzinto/Park Rynie Satellite Office (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/06
  • Pinetown Labour Centre (10 posts) – HR4/4/3/07
  • Hammarsdale Satellite Office (12 posts) – HR4/4/3/08
  • Vryheid Labour Centre (2 posts) – HR4/4/3/09

Salary Package

  • Annual Salary: R269,499 per annum

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Experience: No prior experience required
  • Knowledge:
    • Unemployment Insurance Act and Regulations
    • Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act
    • Public Financial Management Act (PFMA)
    • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
    • Treasury Regulations
    • Batho Pele Principles
    • Department of Labour and UIF policies and procedures
    • UIF’s vision, mission, and values
    • Customer care principles and departmental guidelines
  • Skills:
    • Strong verbal and written communication
    • Interviewing and active listening
    • Computer literacy and data entry
    • Ability to interpret UIF Acts and contributions
    • Conflict management and time management
    • Customer relations and analytical skills
    • Interpersonal skills and telephone etiquette
    • Ability to undergo on-the-job training for operational systems

Key Duties and Responsibilities

As a Client Service Officer, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Providing screening services for UIF applicants
  • Processing applications for UIF benefits efficiently
  • Registering payment continuation forms
  • Performing various administrative functions to support UIF operations
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant labour and financial regulations

This role is client-facing and requires commitment to excellence in service delivery.
