About the Programme

The Limpopo Department of Sports, Arts and Culture invites applications from suitably qualified unemployed South African citizens for its Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) work opportunities for 2025.

The EPWP is a national government initiative designed to provide temporary employment linked to skills development and workplace exposure. Through this programme, participants will:

Available Positions

1. EPWP Cleaners (x21 Posts)

Ref No: SAC 2025/01
Stipend: R3 500.00 per month
Duration: 7 Months

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification (as recognised by SAQA).
  • Cleaning-related training will be an added advantage.
  • Must meet geographic targeting criteria for the EPWP.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners, polishers).
  • Understanding of basic health and safety standards.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness under pressure in high-traffic areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain cleanliness in departmental facilities, offices, and community hubs.
  • Ensure hygiene standards are consistently met.
  • Safekeep and maintain cleaning equipment.
  • Report any health and safety hazards.

2. EPWP General Workers (x5 Posts)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic literacy (Grade 10 / ABET Level 2).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physically fit and healthy; not allergic to grass or outdoor work.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Experience in building maintenance and cleaning.
  • Familiarity with tasks such as paving repairs, bush clearing, creating firebreaks, and soil erosion control.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures in outdoor work environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance of departmental buildings and facilities.
  • Support events and community projects.
  • Ensure safety compliance during physical tasks.

3. EPWP Record Clerk (x1 Post)

Stipend: R3 500.00 per month
Duration: 7 Months

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification (SAQA recognised).
  • An NQF Level 6 qualification in Records Management, Information Science, Archival Studies, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Archival Services, Batho Pele principles, and Public Service Regulations.
  • Basic numeracy and organisational skills.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office Suite).
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate filing systems for departmental records.
  • Capture data and manage archival documents.
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of information.

4. EPWP Hub and Club Coordinators (x79 Posts)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • A Diploma or Degree in Sport Management/Administration will be an added advantage.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Project planning, problem-solving, and report writing abilities.
  • Computer literacy and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Active involvement in sports (participant or organiser).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate sports and arts hubs within local communities.
  • Mobilise community members for participation in departmental programmes.
  • Support sports clubs with administration, event planning, and reporting.

General Requirements for All Applicants

  • South African citizenship.
  • Reside within Limpopo Province and meet geographic targeting criteria.
  • Commitment to the full 7-month contract duration.
