TFG (The Foschini Group) invites dynamic and ambitious youth to join our YES Programme for 2025/2026. This initiative is a life-changing platform for unemployed South Africans to develop their workplace skills and build a foundation for long-term career success.
The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a national programme aimed at empowering youth by giving them practical work experience for 12 months. At TFG, this programme is more than just a placement – it’s a launchpad into the exciting world of retail, offering candidates an opportunity to gain meaningful exposure, mentorship, and professional development.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:
- Age Requirement: Between 18 and 28 years old.
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) is preferable.
- Availability: Willing and able to commit to a fixed-term 12-month contract.
- Employment History: Must not have been permanently employed with a single employer for more than one year.
- Study Status: Must not be enrolled in full-time studies during the programme period (April 2025 – March 2026).
- YES Participation: Must not have previously registered for or participated in the YES Programme.
- Logistics: Candidates are responsible for their own accommodation and transport, if applicable.
- Employment Equity: Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups in line with the Employment Equity Act.

Key Responsibilities of YES Learners
As a YES Learner at TFG, you will gain practical work experience in one of our retail divisions or support services. Depending on the placement, responsibilities may include:
Customer Engagement and Service
- Assisting customers with product enquiries and purchases.
- Delivering friendly, efficient, and professional customer service.
- Supporting the store team in creating a positive shopping experience.
Merchandising and Stock Management
- Assisting with the unpacking, displaying, and merchandising of stock.
- Ensuring shelves and displays are neat, clean, and aligned with store standards.
- Supporting stock counts, replenishment, and stockroom organisation.
Sales Support and Administration
- Assisting with point-of-sale operations under supervision.
- Helping with basic administrative tasks and record-keeping.
- Supporting compliance with company policies, health and safety, and operational standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
- Working alongside experienced staff to learn retail best practices.
- Attending training sessions and applying new skills in the workplace.
- Supporting store or department managers with day-to-day tasks.
