We are now inviting applications from experienced legal professionals for the role of Senior Legal Administration Officer. As a Senior Legal Administration Officer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that SASSA operates in line with the Constitution, legislation, and principles of good governance. You will provide legal guidance across the organisation, draft and manage contracts, handle litigation, and support labour relations matters. Minimum Requirements

  • Education: LLB Degree or equivalent B Degree in Law.
  • Experience: At least 8 years’ post-graduate legal experience.
  • Skills: Computer literacy, sound legal drafting and litigation skills.
  • Other: A valid driver’s license is essential.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contract Management: Implement contract policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards.
  • Drafting & Vetting: Draft, review, and vet a wide range of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Litigation Management: Represent SASSA in legal proceedings, manage external legal counsel, and oversee litigation processes.
  • Legal Opinions: Provide clear and well-reasoned oral and written legal opinions to management and stakeholders.
  • Legislation Interpretation: Analyse and interpret laws and regulations impacting SASSA operations to ensure compliance.
  • Debt Collection: Handle legal aspects of debt collection processes in line with applicable laws.
  • Labour Relations Support: Advise and support Labour Relations teams on disciplinary, grievance, and other labour-related matters.
  • Training & Capacity Building: Develop and deliver training sessions for internal stakeholders on legislation, policies, and compliance requirements.

  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation to complex operational contexts.
