Purpose of the Role

The Warehouse Assistant / Driver will be responsible for ensuring the efficient delivery of goods and services in line with customer requirements while supporting warehouse operations. This includes the receiving, binning, picking, packing, and dispatching of parts in compliance with safety and quality standards.

This role is critical in maintaining service excellence, ensuring accuracy in stock handling, and delivering customer satisfaction through on-time deliveries.


Key Responsibilities

1. Receiving & Binning

  • Receive all parts and verify documentation for accuracy at all times.
  • Accurately bin incoming stock to designated storage locations.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards when handling received parts.

2. Picking, Packing & Dispatching

  • Pick and pack parts accurately based on customer and internal orders.
  • Prepare dispatch documentation and ensure all items are correctly labeled and packaged.
  • Monitor stock rotation and assist in preventing stock discrepancies.

3. Delivery & Proof of Delivery (POD)

  • Deliver parts to customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure PODs (Proof of Delivery) are signed and returned for all deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and efficiency in delivery vehicles.

4. Safety, Quality & Compliance

  • Adhere to ISO 9001 and internal safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the warehouse.
  • Report damaged, missing, or non-conforming stock promptly to the Warehouse Supervisor.

5. Teamwork & Support

  • Support warehouse colleagues with daily tasks and collaborate to achieve operational targets.
  • Assist with crisis situations (e.g., late deliveries or urgent requests) effectively and responsibly.
  • Uphold Volvo’s customer-first culture by ensuring efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12).
  • Valid Code 8 Driver’s License (essential).
  • Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit) (essential).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a warehouse assistant, driver, or similar role.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in logistics, FMCG, or automotive parts distribution.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 processes.
