Purpose of the Role
The Brewing Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the brewing and associated process areas. This includes executing quality control checks and analyses, coaching fellow team members, and supporting the Brewing Technician Artisan in asset care activities.
This role is shift-based and contributes directly to production performance, process efficiency, and adherence to world-class brewing standards.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities
Shift-Based Production Performance
- Interpret and implement the production plan for the shift.
- Monitor and control production processes using VPO standards (OWS, Team Rooms, 5S, etc.).
- Perform quality analyses to ensure process quality and productivity targets are met.
- Manage waste and by-products during shifts to maintain efficiency and sustainability.
Shift Team Performance
- Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and escalate issues promptly to reduce downtime.
- Execute VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) implementation plans as per standards.
- Drive achievement of shift goals and maintain alignment with broader plant objectives.
Administration
- Apply and maintain administration systems and procedures.
- Complete all required documentation, records, and reports on time and according to VPO standards.
- Contribute to personal and team development through structured learning activities.
Problem Solving
- Apply problem-solving and decision-making techniques as per SAB/AB InBev practices.
- Initiate and resolve issues based on OWS triggers.
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement processes.
Development
- Drive your personal development plan and ensure compliance with training requirements.
- Execute CAP plans and achieve training bucket compliance.
Key Attributes & Competencies
- PC literacy (Microsoft Office / SAP).
- Logical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Strong team player with effective collaboration skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent (NQF Level 4).
- Training: Minimum 12 months on-the-job training via SCAP process.
- Experience: Previous experience in a process-controlled manufacturing environment, ideally within food or FMCG.
