Introduction
We are looking for customer-focused and energetic individuals to join our store team as Shop Assistants / Cashiers. The purpose of this role is to deliver service excellence through efficient point-of-sale (POS) operations, merchandising, and customer service that ensures every shopper enjoys a positive experience.

Job Purpose
To deliver service excellence through professional and efficient customer service, accurate point-of-sale transactions, and effective merchandising that enhances the overall customer experience and supports store profitability.
Key Job Objectives
1. Point-of-Sale (POS) Operations
- Efficiently execute all operational activities at the POS in a professional, timely, and accurate manner.
- Process transactions, scan items, and collect payment for goods purchased.
- Ensure correct handling of cash, vouchers, and electronic transactions at all times.
- Reconcile till balances daily and report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
- Promote and process Clicks ClubCard rewards, ensuring customers understand the benefits.
2. Customer Service Excellence
- Provide exceptional service by greeting customers warmly and assisting with queries.
- Act as a Clicks brand ambassador, maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Inform customers about promotions and special offers to encourage sales.
- Enrol new members into the Clicks ClubCard loyalty programme to drive participation targets.
- Resolve basic customer issues or escalate to management when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming checkout environment.
3. Merchandising and Store Standards
- Support the implementation of visual merchandising and stock display standards.
- Replenish shelves and ensure stock rotation (FIFO) to prevent expired goods.
- Monitor pricing, shelf labels, and promotional signage for accuracy.
- Assist with stock counts, receiving, and stockroom organisation as needed.
- Maintain housekeeping standards across the sales floor and storage areas in line with company guidelines.
4. Compliance and Safety
- Ensure adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures, and cash-handling rules.
- Maintain awareness of shrinkage, theft, and loss-prevention measures.
- Follow all health, safety, and hygiene regulations applicable to the retail environment.
- Report equipment faults, hazards, or incidents to management immediately.
5. Knowledge and Product Awareness
- Stay updated on Clicks’ products, ranges, promotions, and events.
- Provide accurate information and advice to customers regarding product availability and features.
- Maintain general awareness of the health and beauty industry trends relevant to the store.
Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Basic understanding of mathematics and cash handling.
- Knowledge of customer service excellence principles.
- Understanding of stock management, retail merchandising, and promotions.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing retail or FMCG environment.
- Experience with POS systems and stock-control software.
Skills Required
- Customer Orientation: Ability to understand and respond to customer needs promptly.
- Communication: Clear, courteous, and effective verbal communication.
- Numeracy: Confident with basic calculations and cash transactions.
- Computer Literacy: Familiar with electronic POS systems and general computer use.
- Planning and Organising: Ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a busy store environment.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and assist customers efficiently.

Educational Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric (NQF Level 4).
Desirable:
- Minimum of 50% in both English and Mathematics at Grade 12 level.
