About the Learnership

This learnership equips participants with the practical skills required to:

  • Deliver world‑class merchandising standards
  • Manage in‑store execution
  • Engage with retail customers
  • Grow sales volume
  • Ensure product availability and visibility
  • Assist with order‑taking and promotional execution

Learners will work across a designated geographical area, performing hands‑on merchandising in bronze and tin outlets, while learning the fundamentals of retail marketing, customer service, and brand representation.

Participants must complete a minimum of 120 credits over the 12‑month learnership period to qualify.


Purpose of the Role

The Unemployed Learner Visual Merchandiser plays a key role in supporting the Sales and Merchandising teams with executing store visits, building displays, maintaining product quality, and ensuring outstanding in‑store visibility for Coca‑Cola brands.

The role includes learning how to:

  • Execute daily store visits
  • Maintain stock rotation
  • Support marketing and promotional campaigns
  • Assist customers with digital ordering via the MyCCBA platform
  • Improve execution scores through quality merchandising
  • Understand consumer buying behavior

This learnership is designed to prepare participants for future employment opportunities within the retail, merchandising, or sales environment.


Key Working Relationships

As a Visual Merchandiser Learner, you will interact with:

📌 Sales Team Members

To collaborate on merchandising duties, share insights, and receive practical field guidance.

📌 Sales Account Developer

To receive structured onboarding, training, daily guidance, performance assessments, and coaching on safety and sales processes.

📌 Consumers & Customers

To understand consumer preferences, ensure product visibility, and promote digital ordering solutions.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. In‑Store Execution & Merchandising

  • Execute daily call cycles and scheduled store visits according to set objectives.
  • Implement brand‑specific visual merchandising standards in line with Coca‑Cola guidelines.
  • Build and maintain product displays that enhance brand visibility.
  • Ensure all products meet quality requirements, are rotated correctly, and comply with stock‑freshness standards.
  • Maintain product availability and address stock shortages early.

2. RED Compliance & Execution Excellence

  • Ensure adherence to RED (Right Execution Daily) standards.
  • Complete iRED surveys to measure merchandising performance.
  • Maintain excellent scorecard results by addressing execution gaps.

3. Digital Customer Support

  • Educate and assist customers in placing orders using MyCCBA digital platform.
  • Help retail stores transition to digital ordering for improved service efficiency.

4. Promotional Activities

  • Support the rollout and execution of promotional campaigns.
  • Ensure promotional materials are visible and correctly placed.
  • Help increase brand visibility and drive sales during promotional periods.

5. General Support Duties

  • Provide relief coverage for other territories when required.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the line manager.
  • Work collaboratively within the sales and merchandising ecosystem.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 with Maths or Maths Literacy (minimum 40%)
  • Grade 12 English and a second language (minimum 40%)

Must-Have Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 35
  • Must be unemployed at the time of appointment
  • Must not currently be enrolled in any learnership or full‑time study
  • Must not have completed a similar learnership previously
  • Must be available to work six days a week
  • Must have no criminal record or adverse credit record
  • Must consent to criminal, ID, and qualification verification checks

Advantageous

  • Driver’s License (beneficial for travel between stores)
  • Post‑matric qualification in Sales and Marketing
