This role reports directly to the Dealer Principal and requires an individual who is professional, disciplined, and committed to supporting dealership operations with efficiency and integrity.


Purpose of the Role

The primary purpose of the Driver: Light Duty position is to execute all driving‑related duties for the dealership while maintaining the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and professionalism.

You will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, secure, and properly maintained before handover. You will also support operational tasks including vehicle movement between suppliers, dealerships, and customers, as well as assisting with customer demonstrations and driver training during new‑vehicle handover.

As a key part of dealership operations, your contribution directly affects customer experience, workshop efficiency, and fleet integrity.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

1. Vehicle Safety, Inspection & Care

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Check for any defects, damages, missing tools, or spare wheels.
  • Lock and secure vehicles at all times and ensure keys are stored safely.
  • Start vehicles routinely to prevent battery failure.
  • Report all defects immediately to the Manager.

2. Vehicle Movement & Delivery

  • Move vehicles between dealership, suppliers, and customers as needed.
  • Support vehicle logistics to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Safely operate dealership vehicles within traffic and company regulations.

3. Driver Training & Customer Support

  • Provide basic driver training to customers during new vehicle handover.
  • Demonstrate key vehicle features, controls, and safety guidelines.
  • Complete necessary driver training reports promptly.

4. Compliance & Incident Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all Motus and BMW driving policies.
  • Report all traffic violations, incidents, and accidents immediately.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure responsible vehicle use at all times.

5. General Support & Administrative Assistance

  • Perform any reasonable duties requested by department managers.
  • Assist where translation may be required (advantageous for multilingual applicants).
  • Support dealership operations during peak periods.
  • Be available for overtime and night shift duties (20h00 to 05h00) when required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Minimum Grade 12 / Matric

Licenses

  • Valid Code 14 (EC) Driver’s License
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

Experience

  • No minimum formal experience required (entry‑level), but the following will be advantageous:
    • Previous dealership or automotive experience
    • Driver trainer qualification with an OEM or accredited institution

  • Knowledge of vehicle safety, basic mechanics, and roadworthiness checks
  • Ability to perform professional vehicle handovers
  • Experience handling dealership vehicles (advantageous)
