The CAMO (Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation) Department plays an essential role in ensuring that aircraft meet all safety and regulatory compliance standards. To support this vital function, SAA is seeking a highly organized, detail‑driven Admin Officer to join the CAMO department in a permanent role based at Kempton Park.

Job Purpose

The Admin Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the CAMO Manager and the wider CAMO team. This includes capturing data, updating technical documentation, maintaining office administration processes, arranging meetings, managing training compliance, handling staff administration, and ensuring effective office operations.

The role is central to the smooth functioning of the CAMO unit and requires someone with strong administrative skills, time management, and the ability to operate under pressure.


Key Responsibilities: What You Will Do

As the Admin Officer for the CAMO Department, you will be responsible for the following:


1. General Office Administration

You will support the Manager and Senior Manager by keeping the office running smoothly through administrative tasks such as:

  • Coordinating stationery orders and requisitions
  • Managing staff administration processes
  • Handling travel arrangements for the Manager and department staff
  • Ensuring office resources and supplies are always available
  • Supporting day-to-day operational office functions

Efficient office support ensures the CAMO team meets regulatory compliance deadlines and operational targets.


2. Data Capturing and Technical Documentation

You will be responsible for capturing, updating, and maintaining technical documentation used in aviation compliance. This may include:

  • Updating aircraft records
  • Maintaining digital and physical technical files
  • Ensuring documents align with aviation safety standards
  • Assisting with document audits

Accuracy and attention to detail are critical, as documentation impacts the legal airworthiness of aircraft.


3. Training Administration and Monitoring

A core part of the role includes ensuring that all CAMO staff maintain up‑to‑date training, certifications, and renewals. Tasks include:

  • Monitoring all departmental training requirements
  • Scheduling and booking training sessions
  • Tracking expiry dates to prevent lapsed certifications
  • Reporting training status to the Manager

Compliance with training is vital in the aviation sector, making this a crucial responsibility.


4. Meeting Support and Minute Taking

You will manage internal meetings and provide professional administrative support through:

  • Arranging meeting venues and logistics
  • Preparing agendas
  • Taking accurate minutes
  • Typing and distributing minutes to all attendees
  • Keeping detailed records of action items and decisions

Effective meeting records support compliance, auditing, and operational planning.


5. Reporting and Data Analysis

The role requires the compilation of various reports, statistics, and graphs to support departmental decision‑making. Key tasks include:

  • Producing statistical graphs and performance reports
  • Assisting with budget monitoring
  • Investigating budget discrepancies weekly
  • Reporting financial concerns to management

Your input will support financial accuracy and efficient departmental spending.


6. Communication and Correspondence Management

The Admin Officer will assist in maintaining communication channels across the CAMO unit by:

  • Handling incoming calls and emails
  • Providing information to internal teams
  • Supporting the Manager with written correspondence
  • Ensuring professional communication standards at all times

Good communication supports workflow, safety compliance, and operational coordination.


Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the Admin Officer (CAMO) position, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
  • PC literacy, including MS Office
  • Experience working with MIS and SAP systems (advantageous)
  • Prior administrative experience, preferably within a technical, aviation, or engineering environment

Experience in aviation is beneficial but not mandatory.


Knowledge and Technical Skills

Successful candidates should possess:
