Programme Overview

The Artisan Learnership is a 36‑month fixed‑term contract programme combining structured theory training with practical on‑the‑job learning. Learners will receive technical training aligned to Sasol’s operational standards, leading to recognized industry qualifications in their respective fields.

Learnership Fields Available

Candidates may apply for any of the following Sasol Learnership fields:

1. Mechanical Fitter Learnership

Learn mechanical maintenance, equipment assembly, machine diagnostics, rotating equipment maintenance, and workshop safety.

2. Instrumentation Learnership

Gain skills in instrumentation installation, calibration, control systems, and maintaining industrial measurement tools used in automated environments.

3. Electrician Learnership

Develop electrical skills in fault‑finding, wiring, motors, circuit installations, industrial power systems, electrical safety, and preventative maintenance.

4. Chemical Plant Operator Learnership

Learn how to operate chemical processing equipment, understand plant systems, apply control room procedures, and adhere to safety and environmental standards.

Each learnership offers a structured learning path leading to a recognized artisan qualification.


Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Sasol Artisan Learnership Programme, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:

Educational Requirements

A completed National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent qualification with passes in:

  • Mathematics or Technical Mathematics
  • English or Business English
  • Technical Science or Physical Science

Technical subjects strengthen suitability but are not compulsory.

Additional Recommendations

Applicants with strong technical abilities, problem‑solving skills, and a genuine interest in engineering trades will perform best in this programme.
