Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Cleaning & Hygiene Maintenance
The General Worker ensures the cleanliness and sanitization of:
- Offices
- Bathrooms and restrooms
- Kitchens
- Stockrooms
- Public and staff areas
- Passageways, floors & common spaces
Daily cleaning duties include:
- Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting
- Emptying trash bins and replacing bin liners
- Disposing of office waste safely
- Cleaning sinks, toilets, refreshment areas, surfaces, and furniture
- Maintaining cleanliness throughout the workday
This creates a safe, hygienic, and pleasant environment for employees and visitors.
2. Hospitality & Refreshment Services
- Serve tea, coffee, water, and refreshments to staff and official guests
- Ensure beverages are prepared hygienically and timeously
- Restock supplies as needed
3. Venue & Meeting Preparation
- Prepare boardrooms and meeting venues
- Clean tables, chairs, surfaces, and equipment
- Arrange seating and place water decanters, glasses, and refreshments
- Ensure venues are clean, organised, and ready before meetings begin
4. Administrative & Office Support
When cleaning duties are completed, the General Worker may assist with:
- Filing and basic document handling
- Moving office items when requested
- Basic office support tasks
- Reporting shortages of cleaning supplies
- Notifying supervisors of maintenance issues
5. Ad Hoc Duties
The candidate must be flexible and prepared to perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors. This may include:
- Supporting stockroom organisation
- Assisting with office relocations
- Supporting municipal events
Any task reasonably required by management must be carried out.
