Job Summary
The successful candidate will carry out general duties throughout the container yard, following Bidvest International Logistics’ Standard Operating Procedures (QWI). The primary responsibility is to ensure the yard is well-maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
-Matric (Grade 12)
Work Experience
-Minimum of 2 years as a general worker
-Demonstrated experience in a warehouse or container-yard environment
-Must hold valid safety training certificates and maintain a strong safety mindset
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
-Clean the container yard, wash bay, and office perimeter using a ride-on scrubber; report any irregularities
-Conduct daily inspections of stacked containers to verify safe and stable placement
-Follow the scheduled yard maintenance checklist each day
-Keep the ride-on sweeper clean and operational
-Complete daily machine checklists
-Occasionally (fewer than five times per year) operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE)
-Adhere to all quality, environmental, health, and safety protocols
-Perform routine inspections on MHE and other equipment
-Provide general support with yard operations as needed
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge
-Solid understanding of warehousing operations
-Familiarity with safe MHE driving and handling procedures
-Strong attention to detail
Abilities
-Flexibility to work variable shifts
-Basic proficiency in English
-Capability to work effectively under pressure
-Physically able to bend, kneel, and stoop intermittently
-Good numerical aptitude
