We are seeking a vigilant, disciplined, and proactive individual to fill the role of Security Officer (Grade B) within the Southern Suburbs region. This position is ideal for candidates passionate about protecting communities and maintaining high security standards.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum of Grade 10 school education (proof required).
- Must possess a Grade B Security Certificate, accredited and registered with PSIRA.
- Valid South African driver’s license (Code 08).
- A minimum of 2 years’ proven experience working in the security industry.
- No criminal record – applicants will be subject to regular background and criminal checks.
- Physically fit and able to perform the full range of security-related duties.
- Must reside in the Southern Suburbs area, as this role is site-specific.
- Willingness to undergo training, refresher courses, and compliance evaluations as required.
Key Responsibilities
As a Security Officer, the appointed candidate will be responsible for carrying out duties as outlined in company procedures and aligned with PSIRA standards. Responsibilities will include:
- Access Control: Monitoring and managing all entrance and exit points to ensure only authorized personnel gain access.
- Patrolling: Conduct regular perimeter and internal patrols to detect and prevent unauthorized activity, breaches, or security threats.
- Incident Reporting: Write clear and concise incident and daily shift reports to document occurrences and hand over duties professionally.
- Register Management: Complete and maintain all relevant logs and registers, including visitor, vehicle, and delivery logs.
- Site Surveillance: Maintain vigilance over assigned premises, observe surveillance systems (if applicable), and report any irregularities.
- Standard Security Duties: Execute responsibilities in line with the company’s training, operational procedures, and PSIRA guidelines.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, or incidents requiring immediate attention.
- Client Interaction: Provide a courteous and professional security presence to residents, staff, and visitors at all times.
