What Will You Learn?

The Pick n Pay Visual Merchandising Learnership is designed to combine structured classroom-based learning with hands-on, in-store practical training.

Key learning areas include:

Retail Operations

Understanding the daily functions of a busy retail store
Managing product stock levels and replenishment
Ensuring pricing accuracy and product visibility
Learning how retail supply chains work

Visual Merchandising

Planning and executing themed product displays
Aligning store layouts with promotional calendars
Curating eye-catching displays that speak to trends and local communities
Learning the principles of space, colour, texture, and lighting in product presentation

Customer Service

Engaging with customers in a friendly and knowledgeable manner
Identifying customer needs and recommending relevant products
Dealing with customer complaints or inquiries professionally
Creating welcoming environments that promote repeat business

Minimum Entry Requirements

To qualify for this learnership, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Must be a South African citizen, aged between 18 and 35
Must have a Grade 12 / Matric certificate, with:
- English at a minimum NQF Level 2
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy at a minimum NQF Level 2

Must be currently unemployed
Must not be enrolled in any other formal education or training programme
Must be willing to commit to the full 12-month duration
Must be able to attend both classroom learning sessions and practical in-store work experience

Flexibility to work retail hours including weekends, holidays, and shifts
Physically fit to be on your feet and active in a retail space
