Participating Companies & Opportunities:
1. Sanlam Corporate: Wealth Management Learnership
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification: National Certificate in Wealth Management (NQF Level 4)
- Location: Various branches nationwide
- Purpose: Gain exposure to health, investment, and retirement fund administration services in a professional environment. Learn the fundamentals of corporate financial services, customer service, and business operations.
2. Discovery Health: Long-Term Insurance Learnership
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification: FET Certificate: Long-Term Insurance (NQF Level 4)
- Location: Head Office & Call Centre
- Purpose: Develop competence in the healthcare financial services environment. Gain experience in medical aid client servicing, health claims administration, and call centre operations.
3. Dis-Chem Pharmacies: Retail Cosmetics Learnership
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification: Practical Retail Cosmetics Experience
- Location: Dis-Chem stores nationwide
- Purpose: Train in stock control, merchandising, and sales in the cosmetics and beauty retail sector. Learn customer care, product promotion, and in-store sales techniques.
4. Pick n Pay: Wholesale & Retail Operations Learnership
- Duration: 12 months
- Qualification: Accredited Certificate in Wholesale & Retail Visual Merchandising
- Location: Retail branches across South Africa
- Purpose: Learn to manage product displays, customer experience, and stock rotation. Work hands-on with industry mentors to master the principles of engaging retail environments.
Minimum Entry Requirements (All Learnerships):
- South African Citizen
- Ages: 18–35 years old
- Matric/Grade 12 certificate with at least:
- 50% in English
- 50% in Maths, Maths Literacy, or Accounting (depending on programme)
- Not currently studying or formally employed
- Clear criminal and credit record
- Must not have completed any other learnership before
- Must be available full-time for the entire learnership duration
- Willing to attend both classroom training and workplace practicals
Key Responsibilities by Sector:
Financial Services (Sanlam & Discovery)
- Attend classroom sessions and complete formative and summative assessments
- Develop foundational knowledge of financial products, long-term insurance, investment administration, and wealth management
- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, document verification, data capturing, and client servicing
- Work within a structured business environment, supporting various departments with real tasks
Healthcare & Call Centre (Discovery)
- Handle inbound and outbound customer queries via telephone and email
- Capture information, resolve Tier 1 issues, and escalate queries
- Maintain high customer service standards and document interactions
- Learn operational workflows and CRM systems
Retail & Beauty (Dis-Chem)
- Maintain stock levels, rotate stock, and report on damaged or expired items
- Merchandise displays according to brand and vendor standards
- Conduct product demonstrations and assist customers with product advice
- Uphold store cleanliness and product presentation
Wholesale & Fashion Merchandising (Pick n Pay)
- Learn visual merchandising techniques and retail floor layout
- Assist in stock management and store organization
- Engage in in-store training on customer service and trend interpretation
- Develop displays that align with brand identity and drive sales
