We are looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Picker/Packer to join our Hygiene Solutions Business Unit. This exciting opportunity offers candidates the chance to work in a fast-paced, client-driven warehouse environment, where safety, accuracy, and efficiency are at the forefront of operations.


Purpose of the Role

The Picker/Packer is responsible for the accurate picking, packing, and preparation of stock for dispatch in accordance with customer and business requirements. This role also supports the warehouse team by ensuring stock is properly received, stored, rotated, and accounted for while adhering to ISO 9001 QMS standards and company safety guidelines.

This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and maintaining excellent customer satisfaction through accurate order fulfillment and effective stock control.


Key Responsibilities

Picking and Packing

  • Use Granite scanners to pick stock accurately and efficiently in line with dispatch requirements.
  • Pack and prepare items for dispatch, ensuring correct labelling, packaging, and handling.
  • Verify orders to ensure accuracy and prevent dispatch errors.

Receiving and Storage

  • Receive incoming stock and move it to designated locations as directed by the Stock Receiving Controller or Assistant.
  • Safely and accurately store goods on pallets or in racks to optimize space and efficiency.
  • Conduct stock put-away within warehouse storage systems while maintaining traceability.

Stock Control

  • Identify and report damaged, expired, or non-conforming stock to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Participate in monthly stock counts and cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies where necessary.
  • Ensure stock rotation practices (FIFO/FEFO) are consistently applied.

Equipment and Machinery

  • Operate reach trucks and forklifts safely, in accordance with licensing and company regulations.
  • Complete daily reach truck and forklift checklists, reporting any defects to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment are used responsibly and maintained in safe working condition.

Housekeeping and Safety

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment in line with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all occupational health, safety, and operational guidelines at all times.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of goods, ensuring compliance with manual handling procedures.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with warehouse colleagues and the dispatch team to meet daily operational targets.
  • Communicate issues such as shortages, damages, or delays to the Warehouse Manager promptly.
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Valid Reach Truck and Forklift licences (compulsory).
  • Previous warehouse experience in a picking, packing, or stock control environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Proven track record of maintaining accuracy under pressure.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to operational standards.
