Job Purpose
The Sales Associate plays a crucial role in creating an exceptional shopping experience for every customer. You will act as a brand ambassador—delivering top-tier service, building meaningful connections, and helping customers express their personal style through Markham’s signature collections.

Key Responsibilities
As a Sales Associate, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Customer Service Excellence
- Provide a world-class in-store experience by warmly greeting customers, identifying their needs, and offering style advice tailored to individual preferences.
- Handle customer queries, exchanges, and returns professionally and courteously.
- Promote customer loyalty through outstanding service and personalized attention.
2. Sales Performance and Targets
- Consistently meet and exceed individual and store sales targets.
- Use your product knowledge to confidently recommend items and complete successful upsells and cross-sells.
- Take ownership of your sales performance and actively contribute to team goals.
3. Visual Merchandising and Store Presentation
- Maintain an inviting and stylish store layout aligned with Markham’s visual merchandising standards.
- Ensure stock levels are consistently replenished and displays remain neat and organized.
- Keep up to date with fashion trends, product launches, and new collections to ensure accurate and engaging customer interactions.
4. Operational Efficiency
- Perform point-of-sale (POS) transactions accurately, including cash handling, credit sales, and returns.
- Assist in daily stock counts, transfers, and general housekeeping to ensure store readiness.
- Follow company procedures regarding stock loss prevention, security, and customer privacy.
5. Team Collaboration
- Work effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations and excellent customer service coverage.
- Support new team members through guidance, teamwork, and positive engagement.
- Participate in daily briefings, sales discussions, and performance feedback sessions.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate (essential).
Experience:
- Prior experience in retail, customer service, or fashion sales will be advantageous but not essential.
Technical & Personal Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Passion for fashion, style, and customer satisfaction.
- Target-driven, proactive, and self-motivated.
- Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

- Reporting To: Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager
- Working Hours: 120 hours per month (flexible schedule including weekends and holidays)
