We are seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join our Polokwane team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation and delivery services that support the Corporate Office, hospitals, and other Mediclinic facilities in the area.
Main Purpose of the Job
The Driver will provide timely, professional, and safe transportation and delivery services between the Corporate Office, Mediclinic hospitals, and other designated sites. The role supports the clinic’s logistics and administrative operations by ensuring that goods, documents, and personnel are transported efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, courtesy, and compliance with road regulations.
This role requires a dependable individual with strong knowledge of road safety, excellent time management, and a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Transportation Services
- Safely transport personnel, equipment, parcels, and documents between the Corporate Office, Mediclinic hospitals, laboratories, and other locations as required.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and Mediclinic transport policies at all times.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, checking fuel, oil, water, tyres, and brakes, and reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure all vehicles remain roadworthy, clean, and in good condition.
- Maintain trip logs, mileage records, and service documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with the coordination of pick-up and delivery schedules to ensure operational efficiency.
2. Messenger and Courier Services
- Deliver documents, parcels, and small equipment to designated recipients promptly and securely.
- Ensure all deliveries are signed for and maintain a record of transactions for accountability.
- Uphold confidentiality when handling sensitive documents or medical materials.
- Provide blood bank delivery services in accordance with cold chain and infection control procedures where applicable.
- Support ad-hoc courier duties as directed by the supervisor or management team.
3. Operational and Safety Compliance
- Comply with all Mediclinic policies and procedures, including infection control, health and safety, and medico-legal regulations.
- Follow fire safety protocols and emergency procedures at all times.
- Ensure the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or near misses immediately to the line manager.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of route geography, local regulations, and traffic conditions to ensure timely and safe transport.
4. Administrative Support
- Assist with minor logistical tasks such as stock control and equipment transport.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to log data, complete delivery forms, and communicate effectively with the office team.
- Answer calls and respond to transport-related requests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ensure all documentation related to transport and delivery is filed and stored according to Mediclinic’s data management policies.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 10 (Matric not essential).
Experience
- Essential: Minimum of 5 years’ driving experience with a valid Code 08 licence.
- Desired: Experience driving passengers with a valid Public Driver’s Permit (PDP).
Licences and Certifications
- Valid South African Driver’s Licence (Code 08).
- Valid PDP licence (advantageous).
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of road safety regulations and South African traffic laws.
- Proficient in reading maps, using GPS navigation systems, and identifying optimal routes.
- Basic computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with telephone etiquette principles for professional communication.
- Knowledge of stock control procedures and secure handling of medical materials.
- Awareness of relevant blood bank regulations and cold chain maintenance protocols.
- Working knowledge of infection control, health and safety regulations, medico-legal requirements, and fire safety procedures.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.

Work Environment
This position operates primarily within Mediclinic Limpopo Day Clinic and other associated Mediclinic facilities in Polokwane. The role involves driving across urban and regional routes, loading and unloading parcels or equipment, and occasionally handling sensitive or time-critical materials.
The Driver will adhere to all company safety protocols, infection control practices, and quality assurance standards while representing Mediclinic’s values of care, excellence, and integrity.
