Job Purpose
The Driver: Light Duty role is essential to ensuring smooth vehicle operations and customer satisfaction. This position involves transporting vehicles, maintaining vehicle quality standards, and supporting operational tasks at the King Shaka Depot. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, excellent knowledge of South African road regulations, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Cleaning & Quality Control
- Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors to Europcar’s high standards.
- Conduct quality control checks, including identifying expired license discs and reporting any issues that do not meet company standards.
2. Vehicle Maintenance & Refueling
- Refuel vehicles after each rental.
- Check tyre pressure, oil, water, and other fluids to ensure vehicles are roadworthy.
3. Vehicle Delivery & Collection
- Deliver vehicles to customers in accordance with company procedures.
- Handle vehicle check-ins following quality control and claims processes.
4. Yard & Surroundings Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the yard and surrounding areas.
5. Compliance & Ethical Conduct
- Uphold company integrity by behaving ethically and safeguarding company assets and customer interests.
- Adhere to all safety and operational procedures.
6. Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as requested by management to support operational efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant driving experience.
Licensing & Skills
- Valid, unendorsed Code 8 driver’s license (held for at least 2 years).
- Basic computer literacy.
- Fully bilingual with the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to read maps and navigate routes efficiently.
Additional Requirements
- Must have a clean driving record and sound knowledge of South African traffic laws.
- Ability to work weekends, shifts, and overtime as operationally required.
- Physically fit and able to perform tasks such as cleaning and vehicle checks.
