Job Purpose
Support patients throughout the admissions and discharge processes in a professional manner, safeguarding the organization against operational and financial risk, and ensuring exceptional client service.
Key Responsibility Areas
–Admissions & Pre‑Admissions: Record and manage admissions as per standard procedures.
–Discharge Management: Coordinate patient discharges in accordance with the Patient Administration Manual.
–Risk Prevention: Identify financial and operational risks—such as blacklisted patients or unreported valuables—and strictly follow relevant policies.
–Confidentiality: Uphold patient privacy and handle sensitive information with complete discretion.
Required Education
–Essential: Grade 12 (or equivalent)

Required Experience
–Essential: None required
–Desirable: Previous experience in reception administration or in a private healthcare environment
Required Skills & Knowledge
–Healthcare Software & Systems:
-Proficiency with Debtpack Enquiry for outstanding balances (e.g., Blacklist checks)
-Experience with AS400 patient administration systems
–Patient Management Functions:
-Admissions, bed management, pre-discharge prep, and discharge procedures
–Medical Knowledge:
-Strong understanding of anatomy, medical terminology, ICD/CPT codes, and private medical aid schemes
–System and Compliance Awareness:
-Familiarity with hospital switchboard systems, cash handling, bed overrides, WCA processing, and emergency protocols (e.g., fire, flood, robbery)
–Administrative & Office Skills:
-Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
–Risk Identification:
-Ability to detect financial risks like blacklisted accounts or mishandled patient valuables
