INTRODUCTION
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering a structured internship opportunity for recent graduates within the Group Human Capital Management unit. This role is specifically designed for individuals who are passionate about public service, administrative excellence, and social development. The internship will provide hands-on experience supporting the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and contribute to organizational wellness.

PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Intake Officer Intern will provide efficient and comprehensive administrative and logistical support to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Unit, ensuring smooth operations, effective case management coordination, and timely data reporting. The role will support the promotion of employee well-being by enhancing the efficiency and responsiveness of the EAP function.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- A completed National Diploma (NQF Level 6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in one of the following disciplines:
- Public Administration
- Business Administration
- Office Administration
- Social Auxiliary Work
- Social Sciences or any equivalent relevant qualification
- Must be currently unemployed
- Must not have previously participated in any internship or learnership programme
- Must be a resident of the City of Johannesburg (proof of residence may be required)
KEY LEARNING AREAS
As an intern, you will be guided through structured learning activities that will expose you to:
- Administrative Coordination:
- Assist in managing documentation, correspondence, and meeting schedules related to EAP services
- Organize logistics for internal wellness events or awareness campaigns
- Employee Assistance Support Services:
- Support intake processes and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee cases
- Facilitate smooth referrals and follow-ups for staff using EAP services
- Reporting & Record Keeping:
- Compile and organize data for qualitative and quantitative reporting
- Assist in drafting inputs for statutory reports and compliance documentation

The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- Strong computer literacy: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Excellent communication skills: Verbal and written, suitable for a professional environment

- Strong organizational and time management skills
