About the Office of the Valuer-General
The Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) is committed to upholding transparency, fairness, and accountability in land valuation to support land reform and restitution programmes in South Africa. As part of this mandate, the OVG requires skilled administrative professionals to support ERP systems, valuations, and monitoring processes.
We invite applications from suitably qualified, motivated, and detail-oriented individuals to join our team on a fixed-term contract. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in public administration while making a meaningful contribution to South Africa’s development agenda.
Purpose of the Position
The Administration Clerk will provide essential support in ERP data management, valuations administration, and monitoring functions. The successful candidate will ensure accurate record-keeping, facilitate effective client issue resolution, and maintain a portfolio of evidence in line with the Annual Performance Plan (APP).
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. ERP Data Administration
- Capture data accurately and timeously into ERP systems.
- Maintain up-to-date records and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor ERP-related queries, resolving or escalating issues where required.
- Provide support to colleagues on ERP processes and data management.
2. Valuations Support Administration
- Record, track, and monitor client queries in line with supervisor instructions.
- Investigate client issues, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Prepare status reports on issues raised by clients and their resolution.
- Assist the Valuations team with clerical and administrative support.
3. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Administration
- Collaborate with other business units to create and maintain a portfolio of evidence.
- Ensure documentation aligns with the Annual Performance Plan (APP) requirements.
- Maintain accessibility of M&E records for the Senior Manager and other stakeholders.
- Support audit readiness through accurate and well-organized filing systems.
4. General Office Administration
- Provide administrative and clerical support to multiple business units.
- Ensure accurate filing and updating of both electronic and manual records.
- Assist in preparing correspondence, reports, and presentations.
- Support procurement-related administration and requisition processes when required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Essential: NQF Level 5 Certificate or National Diploma in:
- Business Administration
- Office Administration
- Public Management or Public Administration
Experience
- At least 1 year of administrative or clerical work experience will be advantageous.
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge
- General understanding of administrative processes.
- Basic project management knowledge.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (added advantage).
- Government procedures and public administration practices.
Skills
- Problem Solving & Analytical Ability: Ability to investigate and resolve queries logically.
- Planning & Organising: Ability to manage multiple administrative tasks.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, including report writing.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
