Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the Shop Assistant role is to deliver exceptional customer service at the point of sale (POS) by:

Key Responsibilities
1. Point of Sale (POS) Excellence
- Complete all POS-related tasks promptly and accurately.
- Scan products, process payments (cash, cards, vouchers), and apply ClubCard rewards with 100% accuracy.
- Balance cash transactions and ensure compliance with company cash-handling policies.
- Remain vigilant against potential risks and fraudulent activities to safeguard company assets.
2. Customer Service Delivery
- Greet and assist customers in a professional, friendly manner.
- Answer queries regarding products, promotions, or store services.
- Resolve customer complaints effectively or escalate to a supervisor when necessary.
- Uphold Clicks’ customer-first values by ensuring every shopper leaves with a positive experience.
3. ClubCard Programme Participation
- Actively promote the Clicks ClubCard programme to new and existing customers.
- Achieve set participation and membership targets.
- Educate customers about the benefits and usage of the loyalty programme.
4. Merchandising and Stock Presentation
- Ensure in-store goods are displayed neatly, attractively, and in line with merchandising guidelines.
- Replenish stock on shelves and maintain correct product pricing.
- Assist in implementing promotional activities and displays.
- Maintain housekeeping standards within assigned departments and ensure a safe shopping environment.
5. Compliance and Security
- Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
- Comply with Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) regulations to ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers.
- Report discrepancies, hazards, or suspicious behaviour to management immediately.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Essential: Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Desirable: Minimum 50% in Mathematics and 50% in English at Grade 12 level.
Experience
- Prior experience in customer service, retail, or FMCG environments will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of cash handling and POS operations (desirable but not essential – training will be provided).
